who dat boy?
Hi, I’m Jack, a hands-on Creative Director who’s been making ads for over 15 years at agencies such as McCann, Wunderman Thompson, AMV, Ogilvy/GTB, and Brothers and Sisters. I never went to ad school, I didn’t even know they existed. So, I went to art school instead and studied photography.
I moved to London in search of fame and fortune, starting out in the fashion world as a photographer’s assistant. But after a couple of years, I started to feel jaded by the industry. Then a chance commercial job shooting for Johnnie Walker opened my eyes to ad land. There were two cool guys telling the photographer what to do. They were ‘The Creatives.’ I wanted to know more.
Eventually, I landed a job as a runner at Brothers & Sisters. It was a six-month contract with no promise of staying on. Five months in, I was writing TV scripts for their biggest client. I ended up staying for six years.
I’ll always be grateful to Andy Fowler for giving me that break. Since then, my career has taken me around the world multiple times. I’ve worked on major global accounts and created standout content for incredible brands. I’ve helped start-ups get noticed, convinced people to buy cars despite not having a driver’s licence myself, encouraged the public to vote, and even created a fake social media company just for laughs. I’ve picked up a bit of silverware along the way, too.
You’ll find a lot of film work on this site. I do love bold, beautiful, funny storytelling. Film is immersive. It makes you feel something. But I truly believe that a great idea can live anywhere, in any channel, and on any budget. That’s what the word ‘creative’ means to me.
I never lost my love of photography, either. My wife and I built a successful art practice together, exhibiting our work across the globe and getting featured in some pretty cool publications.
Fun fact: I once starred in a Sainsbury’s advert. But good luck finding it on YouTube 😉
